Hearing Aids

There are many styles of hearing aids, with advantages and disadvantages for each type. Considering the degree and configuration of a person’s hearing loss as well as lifestyle is essential to this process. Our audiologists will help you choose the instrument that will best suit your hearing loss. All hearing aids are fit using a precise fitting procedure that is the gold standard for hearing aid fittings. This procedure is called a probe microphone or real ear measurement. A probe microphone measurement is one of the most critical aspects of a hearing aid fitting. We offer the most current technology options from a a wide variety of manufacturers.

Tinnitus Maskers/Sound Therapy

Patients who suffer from tinnitus, or ringing of the ears (this can include other types of internal sounds besides ringing), may benefit from tinnitus masking devices or sound therapy. Our audiologists will determine whether a complete tinnitus assessment is required. We offer devices that are hearing aids plus tinnitus sound therapy, as well as a tinnitus therapy called Neuromonics.

Counseling

We provide you with useful, clear information about your hearing loss and the potential benefit of hearing aids.  Our staff will teach you how to operate and care for your hearing aids. This will assure the ease of use and maximize the life expectancy of your hearing aids.  As your hearing needs change, we will make appropriate adjustments to your hearing aids and help you modify your communication strategies.

Rehabilitation

We offer excellent resources to help you as you begin your journey to better hearing.

One resource is a companion book called "5 Keys to Communication Success:

A Helpful Handbook," which is a helpful guide to the individual with hearing

impairment as well as his or her family and friends.

We also include LACE (Listening and Communication Enhancement), an online aural (ear) rehabilitation training program (if appropriate) for all individuals who purchase new hearing aids from our office.

Conceived by leading audiologists at the University of California at San Francisco and implemented by silicon valley software veterans, LACE® Auditory Training programs retrain the brain to comprehend speech up to 40% better in difficult listening situations such as:

  • Noisy restaurants

  • Rapid speakers

  • Competing speakers

Just as physical therapy can help rebuild muscles and adjust movements to compensate for physical weakness or injury, LACE can help you develop skills and learn strategies for dealing with situations when hearing is inadequate. Sometimes, the LACE program is recommended even when hearing aids are not.

30-Day Trial Privilege

You have a 30-day trial privilege with any new hearing aid.  This will allow you to determine if your individual needs have been met successfully.

Cleanings & In-Office Repairs

After purchasing new hearing aids, we advise having them professionally cleaned and checked every 4-6 months.  There is no charge for this service with any hearing aid purchased from our office.  Most minor repairs can be done in the office while you wait.

Cerumen (Earwax) Removal

Earwax removal is performed using curettage and/or irrigation. Irrigation is performed using state-of-the-art equipment that regulates water temperature and pressure to promote maximum comfort and safety during the procedure.
